Mariel Brown has over fourteen years of experience working at the forefront of design and technology. At Seymourpowell she leads a team who provide comprehensive insights, research and trend forecasting for global brands across a variety of sectors, with particular emphasis on the intersection between emerging technologies and their impact on culture, society and everyday life.

Since joining Seymourpowell 12 years ago, Mariel has worked on a diverse range of projects including user research, product strategy, and global trend studies. She is responsible for the thought leadership and day-to-day running of Seymourpowell’s Futures Observatory, translating trends, market and user insights into tangible long-term strategic directions for clients including Unilever, Diageo, Mitsubishi, Ford, Samsung, Panasonic, LG, Dell, and ASICS.

Mariel is a regular contributor to numerous international publications, most recently, Contagious, Harpers Bazaar and Viewpoint magazine, and is often approached for her particular expertise in translating what the impact of trends will be on people’s everyday lives. She also gives regular future-focused keynote speeches at a broad range of design institutes and conferences, offering inspirational and original opinions on trends in technology, culture and society.
